Excellent site with a selection of dailies, weeklies and book-length strips - some of which take longer to load than others - which aren't all about Microsoft and the web.

Goats
The characters of the Goats strip inhabit a cheerful world located somewhere to the left of America with a fast-food chain that has absolutely nothing to do with McDonald's, aliens in search of a good time and a satanist chicken called Diablo. Produced by a couple of techies who seem to like beer and a walk on the sunny side of the odd.

Goreyography
Illustrated with author-artist Edward Gorey's macabre and surreal drawings, this beautifully designed site features a full bibliography, a profile of the notoriously secretive artist, excerpts from his work, and a huge gallery of covers designed for both his own titles and for other works.

Helen, Sweetheart Of The Internet
Stylishly presented, witty cartoon about a brilliant and beautiful techie.

Magic Inkwell Comic Strip Theatre
Excellent site that publishes a selection of strips that work with the medium rather than against it. There's a long-running series about lovesick Dingbat The Cat, and a new short every week.

Scott McCloud
Selection of graphics exploring the possibilities of the medium, including a strip that expands from two to 52 panels and an "adaptation" of Browning's Porphyria's Lover. Some pages can take a long time to load.

Sequential Tart
A stylish webzine produced by an "eclectic band" of women, with interviews, features and reviews about the comics industry.

Shem and Sam
The comic-strip experiences of Sam Beckett and "Shem" Joyce: living in digs together, holidaying in King Ubu's guesthouse, fighting in the WW1 trenches (where, as in life, Sam is a dab hand with a cricket bat). The claustrophic, heavily etched drawings have a menacing beauty and the whole concept is a surreal delight.

Talespinner
Somewhere between a graphic novel and illustrated web fiction, the Talespinner is an ongoing tale with a fantasy feel and an "adult materials" disclaimer.
